# The Project Lifecycle

How a 1 Smart Build project runs, phase by phase:

1. Consultation & feasibility — free same-day call and on-site walkthrough (week 1).
2. Design & engineering — plans, 3D concepts, structural engineering, Title 24 (weeks 2–8).
3. Permits & plan check — we submit, answer corrections and pull permits; fees at cost (1–4 months, city dependent).
4. Pre-construction — long-lead materials ordered, schedule locked, site protection set (2–4 weeks, overlaps plan check).
5. Construction — dedicated project manager, licensed crews, milestone payments; hidden conditions priced in writing before proceeding.
6. City inspections — foundation, framing, rough MEP, insulation, drywall and final; nothing closes up before its rough inspection passes.
7. Final walkthrough & warranty — punch list, final inspection card, lien releases and warranty handover.
