- Final cost
- $108,000
- Duration
- 10 weeks of construction
- Size
- 285 sq ft kitchen in a post-and-beam home
- Permits
- LADBS, permitted and inspected
SCOPE OF WORK
- Custom walnut cabinetry and integrated appliance panels
- Terrazzo slab counters and full-height backsplash
- New electrical, including dedicated appliance circuits
- Relocated sink and gas line
- Restoration of the exposed beam and tongue-and-groove ceiling
WHAT WE RAN INTO
There was no attic to run new wiring or ducting through, because the tongue-and-groove ceiling is the roof deck. Everything was routed through the walls and floor, and the range hood was vented horizontally through the exterior wall instead of up.
THE RESULT
A modern working kitchen with the original ceiling untouched and no soffits or bulkheads added.
